Kony 2012 Social Video Campaign Tops 100 Million Views
In a blog post on Monday, researcher Visible Measures found that in only six days Kony is the fastest social campaign to have 100 million views giving it the title of the most viral video in history.
Britain’s Got Talent video of Susan Boyle did it in nine. Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance, took 18 days. Rebecca Black’s Friday, currently at 430+ million views, took 45 days. Even Modern Warfare 2, one of the biggest entertainment launches ever, hit 100 million views after 77 days.
You can see from these figures and the chart below how long it took some of the biggest viral names ever to reach 100 million views.
The question now is, How big will Kony get? Or what is next? After 70 million views in five days, it’s the fastest growing social video campaign to date. Is this the start of a new level of social video marketing.
